SCORE Links to Haitiadded 8th February 2010
At least 2 SCORE chaplains have a direct link with the disaster in Haiti.
Paul Hill, chaplain at London Welsh RFC, was actually in the country when the earthquake struck. Paul and his family have pioneered the Haiti Hospital appeal, and they were among the first to be giving aid and ministering to those injured and bereaved. The club also took a keen interest in the situation through Paul, and among the many media reports of his work was one in the weekly "Rugby Paper". John Taylor, London Welsh Managing Director, said, ""He is a wonderful man and it is typical that his first thoughts were how he could help other people. We were delighted to hear he was safe. The thoughts of the club are with those who were not so fortunate." Also involved with support for people within that stricken country is Jimmy Dowds, chaplain to Dunfermline Athletic FC. Again with his family Jimmy is involved in Lemonaid, through which teams of helpers and aid are being sent. Jimmy himself has already been out there. To find out more about these projects and to give visit www.haitihospitalappeal.org and www.lemonaid.org.uk. The thoughts and prayers of all at SCORE are with Paul & Jimmy as they continue to engage in this work. View more news click on your headline of choice. News Archive >> |
